Event 1 2015 -2016 PDF Print E-mail

1. The first event in the Cyprus Services Orienteering League for the 2015-2016 Season, will be held on Saturday 12 September 2015 and will take place at Athalassa Forest Park, outside Nicosia. This event is kindly hosted by Mr Michael Savvides of ORIENTACTION as part of the European Week of Sports and will be used by CSOL as a League event for participating members.
2. Details of the event are as follows:
Date: Saturday 12 September 2015
Location: Athalassa Forest Park, Nicosia
Travel: Come off the Limassol-Nicosia A1 highway at the first exit AFTER the big stadium on the left of the highway. Once on the roundabout below, take the third exit towards Latsia, The Mall of Cyprus & IKEA. Go to the end and go straight over the next roundabout. The Park entrance is the second left at the bottom of the dip (after the traffic lights). Park in the car park and the registration/start will be just ahead of you.
Timings: Registration will be available from 0945 hrs and the course will be open from 1000 hrs. Last start will be at 1145 hrs and the course will close at 1245 hrs.
Courses: Three courses will be available:
Blue Course -A moderately technical course of approximately 5 kms
Red Course      -A less technical course of approximately 4 kms.
Yellow Course   -A fairly simple course for novices of approximately 2km.
Nice runnable countryside with a dam and a few ridges with plenty of paths and tracks.
Maps: A very high quality 1:7,500 ‘Athalassa Forest Park’ Map drawn by Mr Michael Savvides and updated by Georgi Hadhimitev and Valetin Garkov, February 2015. Maps will be pre-marked. Loose control descriptions will be available.

Equipment: Runners are to provide their own compass and whistle.  Full leg coverage is not necessary but recommended.
Facilities: There are toilets available at the nearby Park kiosk.  Water will be available at the registration area. Other drinks and snacks may be purchased from the kiosk.
(Reminder) As per CSOL Rules ie: The winner of Blue Course will receive 1000 points and the winner of Red Course 750 points. Subsequent scores will be winner’s time divided by runner’s time multiplied by 1000 for Blue and 750 for Red Course. Team points will be awarded for the top four runners who have scored the highest within a team. Teams may enter as many personnel as they wish on each course. Competitors may run in pairs but individual scores will then be halved and only the half score will count towards team scores.
Please note that no team organising score will be awarded for this particular event.
