1. The first event in the Cyprus Services Orienteering League for the 2014-2015 Season, will be held on Wednesday 03 September 2014 and will take place in the form of an urban sprint event, in Pano Lefkara village, kindly hosted for CSOL by Mr Michael Savvides of ORIENTACTION.
 
2. Details of the event are as follows:
 
 
Date: Wednesday 03 September 2014
 
Location: Registration, start and finish will be on the North side of the Lefkara Elementary School (towards the north part of the village). There are ample car parking places in the vicinity. Opposite registration there is a café (with free wifi) called Stone Lodge, in the old Great Britain Hotel.
 
Travel: Lefkara is in the hills off to the West of the main Nicosia - Limassol highway. Turn off at the Skarinou (McDonald’s) junction. Please see maps below. From the main road going past the village take the right turn into the village signposted for the Fire Station & Police Station. The Elementary School is one block further West. Parking can be found nearby.   
     
Timings: Registration will be available from 1015 hrs and the course will be open from 1030 hrs. Last start will be at 1300 hrs and the course will close at 1400 hrs. Starts will be staggered and as per CSOL Rules there is to be a gap of at least five minutes between runners and ten minutes between members of the same team on the Blue Course. Two minutes per runner and four minutes per member of the same team on the Red course. 
 
Courses: Two courses will be available:
 
Blue Course    -           A moderately technical course of approximately 3 kms
 
Red Course     -           A less technical course of approximately 2 kms.
 
The village is made up of a labyrinth of undulating, narrow village roads and lanes – some tarmac and some cobbled or paved with some steps in places. Please note that all competitors are to strictly avoid trespassing on private property and gardens.
 
Map: The 1:3,000  ‘Lefkara’ Map will be used. 
This map was produced for Orientaction in August 2014 by Mr Michael Savvides. 
Maps will be A4 size and will be pre-marked. Anyone requiring an A3 size map is requested to inform the organiser in advance. Loose control descriptions will be available.
A sample of part of the map is attached on the right.
NB. Teams with more than ten runners are please asked to inform the organiser so extra maps can be produced to ensure sufficient quantities are available for each course.     

Equipment: SPORTident timing system equipment will be used for this event. Runners with their own personal SI card are encouraged to bring and use them at this event.
Runners are to provide their own compass and whistle.  Full leg coverage is not required.
 
Facilities: Water will be available at the registration area but further beverages and refreshments may be purchased from the nearby village cafes and restaurants, where there are toilet facilities.

As per CSOL Rules ie: The winner of Blue Course will receive 1000 points and the winner of Red Course 750 points. Subsequent scores will be winner’s time divided by runner’s time multiplied by 1000 for Blue and 750 for Red Course. Team points will be awarded for the top four runners who have scored the highest within a team. Teams may enter as many personnel as they wish on each course. Competitors may run in pairs but individual scores will then be halved and only the half score will count towards team scores.
Please note that no team organising score will be awarded for this particular event. 
 
3. There will be no charge for any CSOL members taking part in this event. Any guest runners either local or tourists, will be most welcome but will be asked to pay the small charge of €2.00 for the rent of a SI card. The organiser reserves the right to collect any money.
