Date: Wednesday 20th March 2013

Location: Registration, start and finish will take place outside Lion’s Gym.

Timings: Registration will open at 0915, first start 0930 with the last start at 1200. Courses will close at 1315.


Blue Course - A moderately technical course of approximately 6 km.

Red Course - A less technical course of approximately 4.5 km.

Terrain: The ground is a mixture of open bondu and thick scrub with an element of open meadow to the SE.  The terrain is undulating in places and is crossed by various paths and tracks and interspersed with isolated urban areas.

Map: 1:10000 ‘Dhekelia Cantonment and Ranges’ Map updated 2011. Maps will be pre-marked, but not bagged. Loose control descriptions will be available. A3 copies will be available. Demolition and construction projects are ongoing within the station and OOB areas will be pre-marked.

Equipment: Runners are to provide their own watch, compass and whistle. Full leg coverage is not compulsory, but recommended. If it’s hot bring a hat, sun screen and water.

Facilities: Toilets and shower facilities will be available inside the gymnasium. Water will be available at the registration area. Refreshments are also available from the CESSAC cafe opposite the front gate.

Travel: Registration will take place outside Lions Gym. Enter the garrison from the South gate and take an immediate left turn for the gymnasium parking area. British military employees can gain access to the garrison by showing a valid MOD 90 identification card. Military vehicles will be allowed onto the garrison after displaying a valid works ticket.

Anyone wishing to participate in the event and not in possession of a MOD 90 identity card must email the event organiser with the following details no less than 7 days prior to the event: Surname, First name, DOB, Nationality Now, Nationality at Birth, Passport Number, ID Number, Phone Number, Vehicle Reg, Date of entry to Cyprus (desired) and Visa expiry date (desired). Failure to provide these details within the required timeframe will mean the competitor will not be permitted access to the event. In the event of any security difficulties the event organiser will contact you prior to the event.

Civilian vehicles without a BFC car pass will have to obtain a temporary car pass at the south gate by providing a valid form of ID, vehicle tax, registration and insurance documents. Alternatively you may park in the CESSAC car park opposite the front gate and enter the camp on foot. The walk should take 5 minutes and will be signed. Civilians will require identification to be allowed onto camp.
