CYPRUS SERVICES ORIENTEERING INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 19 APRIL 2012

1. The Individual Championship will take place on 19 April 2012 in Dhekelia.  This is a change to the advertised event location.

Event Details 

Location: Dhekelia Cantonment and Ranges Map (revised Aug 11)

Travel:  The event will be accessible via the South gate and route signed.  Civilians will need to provide passport details and car registrations prior to arrival.  These details should be forwarded to Capt Grainger ASAP.

Timings: Registration will be available from 0945 hrs and the course will be open from 1000 with last start at 1200 and the Courses will close at 1330 to allow for Control collection and move of Controls to Akrotiri area.

Courses: 

A Course -  6.8 km with Refreshment stop
B Course - 5.1 km with Refreshment stop

Terrain: See part map below.  Mainly open bondu with intricate contour detail in places, small step
crags and boulders. 

  
Map: 1:10,000.  Maps will be pre-marked on waterproof paper.  Loose control descriptions will be available.

Equipment: Runners are to provide their own compass and whistle.  Full leg coverage is recommended.

Facilities: The admin area will be at the gym.

1. The Team Championship will take place 20 April 2012 on Whiskey 1 Training Area, Akrotiri.


 
Event Details 


Location: Whiskey 1 Training Area Map, Akrotiri (revised Oct 11)

Travel:  The event will be signed from the road prior to the start of the ‘Aki strip’. Access to the camp is not required.

Timings: 

Registration will be available from 0900.
Team Brief 0945.
Mass Start 1000.
Course will close at 1200.
Prizes will be presented as close to 1230 as possible.

Courses: 

A spine of 4.5km at TD 3+ with Refreshments at Control 6.
20 extra controls ranging from TD 3 - 5.

Terrain: See part map below.   Mainly open bondu with some wooded pine areas to the South.  Large disused sand quarry to the West with sand dunes and intricate contours.  A challenge to run up and down!
 

Map: 1:7500  Maps will be pre-marked on waterproof paper.  Loose control descriptions will be available.

Equipment: Runners are to provide their own compass and whistle.  Full leg coverage is recommended.

Facilities: Toilets and water will be available at the registration area.
